Pet Brigade Policies

NEW DA DIRECTED PET POLICY FOR PRIVITIZED HOUSING

The following is the policy of JBLM and DOD concerning aggressive dog breeds:
Effective immediately the following breeds are restricted from residing on any federal Army installation: Pitbulls (American Staffordshire Bull Terriers or English Staffordshire Bull Terriers) as well as any other breed which exhibits aggressive or potentially aggressive behavior as outlined in our Pet Policy & Resident Handbook. This policy applies to all housing on Lewis-McChord Communities. ALL current residents will be grandfathered in IF there is a signed and approved pet addendum in the current resident file listing these breeds. All others will need to remove these breeds from JBLM.

The Pet Brigade does not exclude breeds, however all dogs coming for boarding, grooming, or daycare will be screened for the safety of workers and fellow dogs. We retain the right to refuse service for any dog that could harm humans, and may provide special accommodations to those safe for humans but deemed unsafe around other dogs. Each dog is considered on a case-by-case analysis, and we therefore welcome calls and visits should there by any questions or concerns regarding a given breed.

Scheduling Policies

We understand that travel plans occasionally change last minute, however incoming guests are scheduled according to outgoing guests. Therefore, any pet staying beyond their pre-scheduled checkout date without notifying us 24 hours in advance will be subject to a $25 surcharge for that day in addition to normal boarding fees. 50% of the boarding fee will be required at reservation and is non-refundable for the following holidays: New Years, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

There is a 72 hour cancellation policy for non-holiday reservations, and anything less than this is subject to forfeiture of deposit. If 72 hour notice is given, then the deposit can be credited back to the original method of payment, or may be used as a credit for future boarding, grooming, toys, treats, and dog food.

Please note pick up and drop off times, and know that times outside of scheduled hours may be subject to a $40 surcharge in addition to given boarding rates. Arrangements made in advance are appreciated for circumstances when normal boarding hours cannot be met.

A 3-day minimum stay is required for these holidays: Easter, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Memorial Day. A 5-day minimum stay is required for these holidays: Christmas and New Years.

Pet Policies

The following guidelines, also available on other parts of our website, will help to make your pet’s stay with us more comfortable:

  • No rawhide toys
  • No choker collars
  • No aggressive pets allowed

Owners are asked to pick at least one activity for their pet’s stay, and it’s already included in boarding rates. We want your pet to have a great time, and so like owners to think of us as a resort rather than storage facility. Even older guests like to go on walks and explore The Pet Brigade’s grounds.

We strongly recommend flea and tick prevention for all pets. If a pet is not on a program at the time of boarding and fleas are found, owners will be charged for a bath and flea treatment. If your pet does not have fleas and you choose not to guard your pet against these parasites, we cannot guarantee they will go home pest-free.

Owners are welcome to bring one or two toys/treats for the pet’s comfort, but we ask that all items be clean and sanitized. We cannot be responsible for the condition of these possessions during your pet’s stay. Please mark all toys/treats so that the correct items are sent home. Pets’ favorite small blankets will be accepted and washed before your return. Kuranda beds and blankets are also available in each run for the most comfortable stay possible.

Pet Food
CHANGE OF PET FOOD POLICY
EFFECTIVE May 1st, 2010

As of January 1, 2010 The Pet Brigade no longer carries Canidae Pet Food due to economic issues and the our supplier going out of business given the dramatic price increase of dog food. We are actively seeking a new supplier, however, in an effort to contain costs, no good match has yet been found. Instead of passing along a 30% increase in dog food costs, we have decided to not raise our boarding rates and simply not offer Canidae dog food for the time being.

Therefore, given the lack of supplier and the dramatic price increase in dog food, we are asking clients to bring their own food (free to do) or pay a small fee of $1.50 per meal while boarding. Please package your pet’s food in individual Tupperware containers or baggies with each pet’s name and “AM/PM” marked to indicate which meal that given container is intended for. Containers need to be pre-packaged before check-in and should contain the exact amount intended per meal of boarding; a $10 food handling fee will be charged for any food that The Pet Brigade has to package onsite. Large amounts of food (e.g. entire kibble bags or large boxes) are not able to be stored.

Please package your pet’s food in individual Tupperware or baggies labeled with pets name and “AM”/”PM” to indicate which meal it is intended for. Please have it pre-packaged before check-in. Each package should contain the exact amount you would like your pet to have. We are not able to store large amounts of food or several dog food bags/containers. If The Pet Brigade has to package your pet’s food there will be a $10.00 food handling fee.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you,
The Pet Brigade Management

All vaccinations should be done two weeks prior to boarding, and Bordetella is required every six months.

Please provide written records from your veterinarian showing up-to-date vaccinations, including Bordetella.

Payment Policies

A $35 deposit holds your reservation and also provides a 72-hour cancellation window.

Payment in full is due at the time pets are dropped off.

Thank you from the Owners of The Pet Brigade
