The Owners

Regis and Nancy JacksonThe Pet Brigade is a full service pet spa owned and operated by Regis and Nancy Jackson. It is the only “privately owned boarding facility” on a military post in the United States. The Jacksons worked with Fort Lewis personnel to develop this kennel so that military families, retirees, and civilians with JBLM access would have the finest accommodations for their pets, paired with convenience of location. After several years of working with the Contracting Office of the U.S. Department of the Army, under the Department of Defense, along with the Office of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at Joint Base Lewis McChord, the facility opened April 14, 2008. The Jacksons also own and operate a kennel in Graham, WA, known as Pet Ponderosa Resorts and Spas, Inc. Pet Ponderosa was established in 2003 after Regis and Nancy purchased an existing kennel at the same location that had fallen into disrepair. With years of work and dedication, Pet Ponderosa has grown into the largest kennel in South Pierce County, and can pride itself on being the number one kennel amongst area veterinaries for referrals. The Jacksons currently have over 3,200 active clients and have boarded over 7,500 pets.

Regis and Nancy live with their two sons, seven dogs, one bird, and one cat, in what sometimes can feel like Noah’s Ark. The Jacksons are also both Registered Nurses, and believe that this helps to ensure a safe and secure environment for the pets under their care. They are originally from Cleveland, Ohio and have lived in the Washington area for over twelve years. Being pet owners and lovers all of their lives, Regis and Nancy have always wanted to own and operate a pet resort.

In addition to being Registered Nurses, Regis has two undergraduate degrees in business, as well as a master’s degree in business and marketing. Nancy has a degree in science, with a major in nursing. Both show Australian Shepherds in both American Kennel Club (AKC) and Australian Shepherd Club Association (ASCA). Regis is a Washington State Representative for the Pet Care Services Association (PCSA), which follows the PCSA Code of Ethical Conduct and PCSA Bill of Rights for Boarded Pets, ensuring a professional, loving and caring environment for your pet. Regis and Nancy work hard to ensure that your pet receives the personal care and attention he/she deserves, and welcome potential clients to tour our facility.
