The Owners

Regis and Nancy JacksonThe Pet Brigade is a full service pet spa owned and operated by Nancy and Regis Jackson. It is the only “privately owned boarding facility” on a military post in the United States. The Jackson’s worked with Fort Lewis to develop this kennel so that the military personnel, as well as retirees, and civilians who access Joint Base Lewis-McChord would have the finest accommodations for their pets. After several years of working with the Contracting Office of the U.S. Department of Army, under the Department of Defense, along with the Office of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the facility opened April 14, 2008. The Jackson’s own and operate another kennel in Graham WA, known as Pet Ponderosa Resorts and Spas, Inc. Pet Ponderosa was established in 2003 after they purchased an existing kennel located at that same location but was allowed to become dilapidated. They have grown that location into the largest kennel in South Pierce County, and pride themselves as being the number one kennel amongst area veterinaries for referrals. They currently have over 3,200 active clients, boarded well over 7,500 pets.

Nancy and Regis live with their two sons, six dogs and one bird, and a cat. Regis says he feels like he lives in Noah’s Ark on certain days. Both Regis and Nancy are Registered Nurses, and believe that this helps to ensure a safe and secure environment. They are originally from Cleveland, Ohio and have lived in the Washington area for over 12 years. They both have owned pets all of their lives and have always wanted to own and operate a pet resort
